·
Warning light on the dashboard
·
Connection to the OBD2 Diagnostic port
·
Vehicle speed sensor (which might be in
the dashboard as part of the speedo)
·
A sensor which detect steering rotation
on the input shaft of the steering rack
·
A motor which aids the steering effort
fitted to the rack
To gain the diagnostic flash codes from the warning light on the dashboard
(which EPS light will be constantly on if there is a fault) all you need to do
is short out two pins on the OBD2 connector, using a paperclip or a piece of
wire. Take care not to touch any other pins, and simply push the paper clip
into the plug to keep the following pins joined:-
To reset the error codes on the system, you simply short out the same two pins
above 5 times in 10 seconds, so short for 1 second, release for 1 second – five
times. It may take a few attempts to get this right, and it might help if you
made a simple switch with some wire/pins to push into the connector.
